GIS – 20 December 2024: The Foreign Secretary of the Republic of India, Mr Vikram Misri, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, today, at the New Treasury Building in Port-Louis. Foreign Secretary Misri is on an official visit to Mauritius from 20 to 22 December 2024.
In a statement, the Foreign Secretary said that the meeting with the Prime Minister was very cordial and constructive. He indicated that both parties highlighted the longstanding bilateral ties deeply rooted in shared history, culture, language, kinship and values between India and Mauritius.
The visit, he noted, marked the first high-level bilateral engagement between India and Mauritius after the formation of the new Government led by Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam. Mr Misri likewise conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to Prime Minister Ramgoolam on his victory during the 2024 election.
The Foreign Secretary also assured of the continuation of the development of cooperation between the two countries that spans over several areas. He moreover reiterated the support of the Government of India to the new Government in its priority areas and to the people of Mauritius.
