GIS – 24 July 2025: The endeavour of the Arab Republic of Egypt to deepen cooperation with Mauritius cross all sectors and create new pathways for mutual benefits, was reiterated yesterday, by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mrs Abir Alam Eldin.
She was speaking at a reception organised by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt at the Hôtel de Ville in Curepipe, to celebrate the National Day of Egypt. The celebration was honoured by the presence of the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Dharam Gokhool, the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Dhananjay Ramful and other dignitaries.
In her address Ambassador Abir Alam Eldin highlighted that the National Day of Egypt celebrates the anniversary of the country’s glorious revolution reflecting the sacrifices, struggles that led Egypt to attain its freedom and independence.
She recalled that Egypt’s history is marked by remarkable achievements that teach valuable lessons, shape the present and cherish the vision of the future.
Ambassador Eldin extended her country’s congratulations to Mauritius for the historic signing of the Chagos Agreement which she qualified as a significant milestone representing a victory for justice and sovereignty. This highlights the Mauritian people’s steadfast determination to reclaiming their rightful heritage, she pointed out.
Egypt and Mauritius have the potential for further collaboration in the education, scientific research, culture, technology and public service sectors, she said, adding that by building strong partnerships we can unlock new opportunities that support sustainable development and work together to address global challenges.
