GIS – 24 July 2025: The Chagos Archipelago Agreement signed between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Mauritius and tapping into further avenues of collaboration, were at the core of discussions this afternoon between High Commissioner Brumell and Prime Minister Ramgoolam.
The newly appointed High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr Paul Brummell CMG, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at the New Treasury Building in Port-Louis.
In a statement the British High Commissioner said that he had a fruitful discussion with Prime Minister Ramgoolam, adding that he congratulated the PM on his role in the signature of the historic Chagos Archipelago Agreement.
Discussions, he said, focused essentially on issues pertaining to the Treaty and Strategic Partnership Framework as well as developing activities in a whole range of areas.
Furthermore, Mr Paul Brummell indicated that he brought forth his agenda on developing support to Mauritius in various areas namely, climate finance, tackling challenges around illicit finance and institution building.
