GIS- 02 September 2025: The Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Mr Franceau Aubret Grandcourt, invited the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, to visit Rodrigues in the context of the forthcoming celebrations marking the 23rd anniversary of the island’s autonomy.
He made this announcement following a courtesy call on the Prime Minister today at the Treasury Building in Port-Louis. The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, was also present.
In a statement following the meeting, Mr Grandcourt pointed out that his exchange with the Prime Minister was cordial, highlighting that discussions focused on the political landscape as well as on upcoming developmental projects for Rodrigues.
He further underlined the progress achieved on the island over recent years, noting significant improvements in the quality of life of Rodriguans, particularly in the fields of sports, education, and tourism.
