GIS- 19 September 2025: The crucial role of effective and impactful communication in driving meaningful change and delivering reforms for the betterment of the population was at the core of an interactive session on ‘Strategic Communication for Success’ held this afternoon in presence of the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port-Louis.
The Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr Jyoti Jeetun, Ministers as well as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Mauritius and Seychelles, Ms Amanda Serumaga, were among the key participants of the session led by renowned speechwriter and communication expert, Mr Simon Lancaster.
The event marked the culmination of a five-day high-level workshop on Strategic Communication specifically designed for Ministers, Junior Ministers, Members of the National Assembly, Senior Government Officials and Communication Advisors.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Jeetun underlined the importance of communicating with confidence and clarity adding that the nature of communication is undergoing constant evolution with the emergence of digital technologies.
She pointed out that it is essential to equip frontline communicators with the right tools and techniques needed for successful dissemination of information to foster transparency and trust.
Minister Jeetun expressed gratitude to the UNDP for its continued support in organising capability building programmes designed at enhancing the communication skills of those who are responsible for engaging with the public.
As for Ms Serumaga, she recalled that the workshop provided an opportunity to reflect on the ever-changing nature of the communication craft, noting that communication strategies must continuously adapt to remain effective and relevant.
This initiative of the Ministry of Financial Services and Economic Planning in collaboration with the UNDP, aimed at strengthening the communication skills of the participants to ensure accurate and impactful dissemination of government policies and strategic objectives to the public.
