GIS – 19 Sep 2025: The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, along with his spouse, Mrs Veena Ramgoolam, paid floral tribute yesterday to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR), on his 125th birth anniversary, at the Samadhi at the SSR Botanical Garden in Pamplemousses.
On the same occasion, the Prime Minister proceeded to the symbolic planting of a Mimusops Petiolaris (Bois Makak) tree.
The wreath laying ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries to honour the enduring impact of SSR’s legacy. A painting exhibition, showcasing the life and contributions of the Father of the Nation, was also held as part of the commemoration.
The Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Dr Arvin Boolell, Ministers, Junior Ministers, Members of National Assembly and other distinguished personalities were also present to pay homage to SSR.
