Special Envoy of Algerian President calls on the Prime Minister

The Minister of Health and Special Envoy of the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr Abdelhak Saihi, described Mauritius as a beacon of development for the African continent during a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, today at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement following the meeting with the Prime Minister, Minister Saihi highlighted the strong ties between Mauritius and Algeria, emphasising the potential for enhanced collaboration in diverse sectors. He stated that both nations stand to benefit from sharing expertise and experiences, paving the way for mutual growth and development.

Mr Saihi reiterated his country’s commitment to providing training opportunities, adding that many Mauritian students are currently pursuing higher studies in Algeria.

In this regard, he reaffirmed Algeria’s readiness for continued support to Mauritius in its capacity-building efforts. Minister Saihi further praised Mauritius for its impressive development, deeming it as a developed nation and an inspiration for Africa. He recalled that Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam’s dedication to advancing cooperation and fostering African development underscores a shared vision for a prosperous continent.
