GIS – 26 September 2025: The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Fayez Meshel B. Altemyat, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, this afternoon at the Treasury Building in Port-Louis.
During the meeting, the Ambassador handed over a written message from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to Prime Minister Ramgoolam. The message underscored the friendly and longstanding relations between the two countries and the Kingdom’s intent to further enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields. It was conveyed in the spirit of the 95th National Day celebrations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Altemyat recalled that Mauritius and Saudi Arabia share a strong relationship built on mutual respect, friendship and values. He expressed optimism about the future of the partnership between the two countries, emphasising key ares of potential cooperation namely trade and investment, tourism, cultural ties, renewable energy, infrastructure, services and technology.
Discussions also focused on Mauritius’s strategic role as a gateway to Africa and the Indian Ocean, as well as Saudia Arabia’s efforts to forge global partnerships and create new opportunities through its Vision 2030.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam and Ambassador Altemyat also exchanged views on advancing critical sectors such as healthcare, education and infrastructure development for the welfare of the population. They further reaffirmed their commitment to continue to work closely as partners to deliver tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
