GIS – 11 March 2025: The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, paid tribute, this morning, to late Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR) and late Sir Anerood Jugnauth (SAJ) during a wreath-laying ceremony held at their respective samadhis at the SSR Botanic Garden in Pamplemousses.
The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam; the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger; the Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Dr Arvin Boolell; and other personalities were present at the wreath-laying ceremony.
On that occasion, an Aegle Marmelos, also known as Wood Apple (Bael), was jointly planted by Shri Narendra Modi and Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, symbolising the collective spirit of respect and remembrance.
The Indian Prime Minister moreover proceeded with the signing of the visitor’s book following the wreath-laying ceremony.
