Prime Minister exhorts laureates to contribute to country’s progress

GIS- 07 February 2025: Laureates embarking for higher studies, were exhorted to be at the service of their homeland by contributing with their knowledge, skills and experiences acquired at university.

The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, made this plea to the newly proclaimed laureates of the Higher School Certificate Examinations 2024 cohort, this morning, at the signature ceremony of the official list of laureates for the Republic of Mauritius, at the New Treasury Building, in Port-Louis.

In a statement Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam extended his congratulations to the laureates for their remarkable academic performance, while underlining that their hard work and sacrifices have culminated into their achievement.

Success, he observed, can only be attained through hard work and unflinching efforts.

Moreover, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam highlighted that the continuous support and sacrifices of the parents along with the contribution of the educators have equally been instrumental in their pathway to success.

Recalling that the Government is investing in the laureates’ further studies, through the provision of scholarships, the Prime Minister urged laureates upon completion of their studies abroad to return to Mauritius and contribute back with their acquired knowledge and experiences.

On that score, Prime Minister Ramgoolam underpinned Government’s intent to promote a meritocratic system ensuring that each individual’s capabilities and merits are duly recognised.

As for those HSC students who did not attain their goal of becoming laureates, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam encouraged them to continuously steer towards their goals and bounce back to success.
