Tourism: Prime Minister attends the reopening ceremony of Four Seasons Resort Mauritius

GIS – 12 December 2025: An official ceremony marking the reopening of Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita in Beau Champ, after an extensive seven-month enhancement project, was held yesterday. The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Veena Ramgoolam, graced the event.

Other dignitaries including the Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr (Mrs) Jyoti Jeetun; the Junior Minister of Finance, Mr Dhaneshwar Damry; the General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Mauritius, Mr Martin Dell; and the Group Chief Executive of CIEL Group, Mr Guillaume Dalais, were also present on the occasion.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that the reopening of this iconic resort is a reflection of the policy of Government to encourage the modernisation of the hospitality industry and at the same time is a reaffirmation of the country’s endeavour to excel on the global stage. This massive investment, he said, sends the powerful message that Mauritius is confident, competitive and committed to excellence.

He lauded the Resort’s impressive and ambitious transformation, outlining that its success rests on its unwavering consistency in providing excellent and high standard service to its guests.  According to the Prime Minister, the marine conservation efforts, resource efficiency and waste reduction initiatives undertaken by the Resort, demonstrate that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Dr Ramgoolam recalled that tourism remains one of Mauritius’ strongest economic pillars, attracting investment, creating employment and sustaining communities across the island.  He rejoiced that this year’s tourist arrivals are continuing the upward trajectory, in the course to exceed 1.4 million visitors with earnings projected to be over Rs100 billion, emphasising that this reflects the synergy of the partnership between Government and the private sector.

Underpinning the need for Mauritius to remain competitive in the market, the Prime Minister urged the tourism industry to continuously raise quality standards, innovate and tap into the country’s cultural richness. Our future success rests on three key principles: sustainability, competitive advantage and long-term strategy, he stressed.

In a bid to support this evolution, Government will shortly introduce digital recognition at our borders as well as new digital visa, said the Prime Minister.

On his part, Mr Guillaume Dalais dwelt on the elements that bring the authentic and elevated experience of Four Seasons Resort Mauritius to its guests –luxury residences, vibrant culinary journey, overwater spa, championship golf, deep connection with the surrounding lagoon and the seahorse conservation program. He stated that the renovation program is clear statement of confidence in Mauritius and the future of its tourism industry.

As for Mr Martin Dell, he underscored the contribution of Four Seasons Resort Mauritius as one of the island’s first ultra luxury hotel residences in positioning the country as a premier destination for international investors, generating significant foreign direct investment and creating employment. He further pointed out that the renovation focused on creating a deeper connection with the natural beauty and spirit of Mauritius, with sustainability remaining at the heart of it, adding that the Resort is committed to offer the best standards and genuine Mauritian hospitality.
