GIS- 24 February 2026: The long-standing and friendly relationship between Mauritius and Germany was highlighted, this afternoon, during a courtesy call by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Oliver Knoerich, on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement following the meeting, Ambassador Knoerich stated that discussions focused on bilateral relations which date back to 1968, nearly six decades of cooperation and friendship. He noted that both sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador further underlined the significant potential for deeper collaboration in key sectors, including tourism, financial services, agriculture, artificial intelligence and digital finance. Cooperation in several other areas was also discussed.
Mr Knoerich expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister for the warm welcome extended to him in Mauritius and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to further strengthening ties with the country.
