GIS – 20 September 2025:<\/b> A reception, celebrating the 76th<\/sup> anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China, was hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mauritius, Dr Huang Shifang, yesterday, at the InterContinental Resort Mauritius, in Balaclava.<\/p>

The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Dharambeer Gokhool; the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam; the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Paul Raymond B\u00e9renger; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Dhananjay Ramful, graced the event. Ministers, Junior Ministers, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and other personalities were present on the occasion.<\/p>

Toasts were raised by the dignitaries to the President of the People\u2019s Republic of China, Mr Xi Jinping, to the continuous prosperity of Mauritius and China, and to their flourishing bilateral and friendly relations.<\/p>

In her address, Dr Huang Shifang conveyed her appreciation to everyone who has consistently supported China and the advancement of China-Mauritius relations. She dwelt on China\u2019s remarkable achievements over the past 76 years, among which are rapid economic development and long-term social stability.<\/p>

According to Ambassador Shifang, by expanding high-level opening-up, China shares development opportunities with the rest of the world, adding that it has now become a major trading partner of more than 150 countries and regions. \u201cWe are committed to building a community with a shared future for humanity where the flame of peace is passed from generation to generation,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>

Speaking about the China-Mauritius relations, Dr Huang Shifang described Mauritius as an important partner of China in Africa and the Indian Ocean region. She highlighted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 53 years ago, both countries have been adhering to mutual respect and pursuing common development.<\/p>

\u201cLast year, Mauritius and China elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership,\u201d she recalled, elaborating on China\u2019s strategic support to Mauritius through various endeavours. These are namely: promoting trade and development cooperation, deepening human resources capacity-building cooperation, advancing financial cooperation, and fostering cultural and people-to-people exchanges.<\/p>

Moreover, the Ambassador reaffirmed China\u2019s willingness to work hand-in-hand with the Mauritian Government, to continue firmly supporting each other\u2019s core interests, enhancing mutual trust, and carrying forward the traditional friendship.<\/p>
