GIS \u2013 05 Mar 2026<\/b>:\u00a0A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, this afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis. The delegation comprised the IMF Mission Chief, Ms Priscilla Banda Chitatu; the Revenue Administration Advisor at Africa Technical Assistance Center South, Mr Ravinder Saroop; and the IMF Senior Economist, Ms Jimena Acedo.<\/p>

Discussions focused on the IMF’s ongoing \u2018Tax Administration Diagnostic Assessment Tool\u2019 (TADAT) mission being conducted in Mauritius. The exercise seeks to assess the performance of the Mauritian tax administration in line with international best practices. Mauritius is among the first countries to be evaluated under the new \u201cTADAT Field Guide 2025.\u201d<\/p>

The IMF team arrived in Mauritius on 25 February 2026 and will remain in the country until 10 March 2026. At the conclusion of the mission, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the national authorities, including the Mauritius Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Finance, to identify areas for improvement and further enhance the efficiency and transparency of the Mauritian tax system.<\/p>

The visit forms part of the broader cooperation between Mauritius and the IMF, supporting the Government\u2019s economic reform agenda. It follows the February visit of another IMF delegation, led by the Division Chief in the Public Finance Management (PFM) Division of the Fiscal Affairs Department at the IMF, Mr Hansen Torben Steen, which focused on the drafting of a Fiscal Responsibility legislation as announced in the Government Programme 2025\u20132029.<\/p>
