GIS \u2013 22 August 2026:\u00a0<\/b>Mauritius has entered a new era in fuel distribution with the launch of Fillin, the country\u2019s first fully Mauritian-owned fuel retail brand. Developed by the Bhunjun Group through its subsidiary, Beta Oil Terminal Ltd, the brand was officially unveiled yesterday in the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at L\u2019Aventure du Sucre in Beau Plan.<\/p>

In his keynote address, the Prime Minister hailed the Bhunjun Group\u2019s achievement as a major milestone for the energy sector and the national economy. He emphasised that the initiative reflects the confidence of local entrepreneurs in the country and demonstrates that Mauritian enterprises possess the ambition, financial strength, technical expertise and managerial capacity to invest in sectors of strategic national importance.<\/p>

Dr Ramgoolam remarked that this commercial milestone would foster healthy competition within the local petroleum market, observing that the entry of a fully Mauritian-owned operator would spur innovation, attract further investment and ultimately provide better value to consumers.<\/p>

Furthermore, the Prime Minister commended the Bhunjun Group for its growth into one of Mauritius\u2019 leading diversified enterprises, attributing its success to visionary leadership, resilience and determination. He noted that the Group’s footprint is deeply embedded in the Nation\u2019s core infrastructure landscape.<\/p>

Highlighting Mauritius\u2019 strategic location along major maritime trade routes linking Africa and Asia, the Prime Minister underpinned the potential for local companies to leverage this advantage and position the country as a trusted regional hub for petroleum logistics, marine bunkering and fuel services through sustained investment and strategic partnerships.<\/p>

Concluding his address, Dr Ramgoolam also reaffirmed the Government\u2019s core responsibility to maintaining a stable, competitive and secure economic environment in which businesses can thrive, markets operate fairly and consumers are protected. He advocated for a collaborative economic model\u2014with the Government providing regulatory stability and clear policy direction, while the private sector drives innovation, investment, and operational excellence to ensure sustainable development.<\/p>

Commenting on the milestone, the Group\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Veekram Bhunjun, stated that the achievement was the culmination of years of hard work and entrepreneurial ambition. According to him, it clearly demonstrates that Mauritian companies possess the capability to lead, invest, and succeed in vital economic sectors.<\/p>

He highlighted the Bhunjun Group\u2019s contribution to the development of modern Mauritius and its place within the country\u2019s socioeconomic landscape. “Our continued mission is to invest in the nation and the future of generations to come, guided by our core principles of integrity and hard work,” he noted.<\/p>

Underlining that investing in Mauritius entails developing robust infrastructure that fosters resilience, Mr Bhunjun reiterated his commitment to taking impactful, forward-looking decisions aligned with the Government’s Vision 2050 roadmap. He also pledged to maintain a strong partnership with the Government to drive national goals and contribute to the country\u2019s continued progress and prosperity.<\/p>
