GIS- 19 April 2025:\u00a0As we strive to strengthen the values of Nation and prepare ourselves for the future, a sound education will remain a crucial foundation for our country\u2019s progress.<\/span><\/p>

This was the gist of the message of the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, today, as he launched the book entitled\u00a0\u2018Veni,Vidi,Vici Two Centuries of Nation Building\u2019, in Ebene.<\/span><\/p>

The book co-authored by Messrs Serge Rivi\u00e8re and Amaresh Ramlugan, chronicles the history of the Royal Colleges in Mauritius.<\/span><\/p>

During his address, the Prime Minister reminisced about his college time spent at the Royal College Curepipe (RCC), and recalled the excellent education and lifelong learning he received from educators who are strongly committed to guide the wholesome development of their students.<\/span><\/p>

Dr Ramgoolam spoke of RCC\u2019s unparalleled history and traditions that have stretched down to centuries, emphasising that the school has stood the test of time, and produced professionals that now shine in different key posts.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cAs a true place of learning since its establishment, the RCC has welcomed students from all backgrounds and communities, with the leading example of the father of the Nation, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>

The Prime Minister further highlighted that the school today continues to contribute to instil values of liberal education and stands for the qualities that will best serve the Nation, adding that the last year\u2019s fifteen laureates are a testament of its distinguished legacy of excellence<\/span><\/p>

Moreover, Dr Ramgoolam spoke of the importance of education to spearhead the progress of the country, for its only resource is its human capital.\u00a0\u201cIn line with this objective, we intend to bring forth reforms in our education system so that it upholds the fundamental principles of liberal education and cherish meritocracy and non-discrimination\u201d, he stressed.<\/span><\/p>

Underlining the significance of promoting a liberal education, whereby children acquire lifelong learning and wholesome development, the Prime Minister indicated that the country has not yet rolled out a system that works for all young people.<\/span><\/p>

To address all deficiencies in the existing education system, Government is committed to bring forward a new model of education, that is \u2018l\u2019\u00c9ducation \u00e0 visage humain\u2019, with the vision of ensuring that no child is left behind, he pointed out.<\/span><\/p>

Prime Minister Ramgoolam also expressed conviction that the country\u2019s brightest days are ahead, and renewed his resolve to shape a new destiny forward, guided by the national goals of promoting economic efficiency, social justice, discipline and unity.<\/span><\/p>
